Creation method

There are two options for creating an Auto Orient node.

  • The first way to create an Auto Orient node using the search list, which is opened by double left-clicking in the workspace. You can write the name of the node you need, or words associated with this node.
    • autoOrient , orient , move , planeToPlane
  • The second way is to select an Auto Orient node from the menu that opens from the top left.
    • Menu > Tool > Transform > Auto Orient

Steps

  • Create an Auto Orient node.
  • Connect the base geometry you want to reorient to the first port.
  • Connect the target plane to the second port. If left unconnected it defaults to the XY plane, so the node flattens the part onto XY (handy for nesting).

Unlike Orient, no source plane is required: it is taken automatically from the part's own placement location (baked by Promote To Placement Part and kept in sync by transforms), or the world XY plane when the part has no placement. The placement transform is applied as-is, so reflected placements (e.g. from Mirror) are handled correctly. On the output port, you will get the oriented geometry.
