Overview

Three Render

Bring your BeeGraphy models to life with the Three Render plugin: a compact set of nodes that add real-time visual feedback, instancing, and human scale to your parametric compositions. Based on Three.js rendering, it is designed for designers who want to quickly evaluate how a parametric form looks, repeats, or relates to the human body directly inside the visual editor.

Node groups

Three Render

The main group contains three nodes that extend a parametric model with shader effects, array-like visualisation, and scale reference.

  • Perforated Panel — Applies a shader-based perforation pattern to a mesh. Great for visualising acoustic panels, metal sheets, packaging, or façade elements without adding hundreds of actual boolean holes to the geometry. Since the cutouts are generated in the shader, the underlying mesh stays light and fast to edit.
  • Instanced Mesh — Creates a Three.js InstancedMesh from one source geometry and a set of positions. Use it to preview large arrays such as ceiling grids, paving modules, seating rows, or rack systems while keeping the graph responsive.
  • Scale Figure — Drops a simple human silhouette into the scene as a real-world scale reference. Useful during early design reviews when you need to verify that a chair, doorway, kiosk, or machine envelope actually fits a person.

Example combinations

Repeat a module across a grid

Start with a base geometry such as a panel, seat, or brick, then connect it to Instanced Mesh together with a grid of points generated by your own parametric logic. The result is a lightweight preview of a repeated module that updates immediately when the original geometry changes. This is a practical way to check density, spacing, and overall rhythm before exporting or converting to heavier solid geometry.

Preview a perforated enclosure

Connect a simple surface or box to Perforated Panel and adjust its parameters to control hole size, spacing, and pattern intensity. Because the perforation happens in the shader, you can switch from a fine mesh-like screen to a bold geometric cutout in real time without rebuilding the model. Combine the output with Scale Figure to make sure the enclosure reads correctly next to a person.

Site arrangement with human reference

Use multiple Instanced Mesh nodes to lay out repeated objects such as bollards, planters, or light poles around a site model. Add a few Scale Figure nodes at key spots to judge clearance, gathering areas, and sight lines. This keeps the scene readable and human-scaled while you continue adjusting the parametric relationships in the graph.
