Imagine breaking down the intricate world of design into its simplest form—points. This is the core of Christopher Bullen’s upcoming workshop, “To The Point,” where the power of computational modeling meets the elegance of parametric design. Scheduled for August 28th at 6pm GMT, this Google Meet session promises to turn your design approach on its head.
Christopher Bullen is no ordinary instructor. With a rich background that spans from watercolor artistry to advanced mathematics, Chris brings a distinctive perspective to design and visualization. His journey began as a watercolor artist for architects and developers, but a passion for the mathematical foundations of design led him back to university, where he earned degrees in Pure and Applied Mathematics with First Class Honors. Initially set on a Master’s in Architecture, Chris’s curiosity shifted towards computer graphics, where his deep understanding of mathematical principles revolutionized his approach to design software.
As a leading instructor with Autodesk University and a published expert in design magazines and books, Chris’s insights have shaped the field of advanced visualization. For the past 17 years, he has taught at Mount Royal University’s Interior Design Department, integrating cutting-edge technology into his curriculum. His consultancy work spans architectural firms, interior designers, game developers, and more, showcasing his versatile expertise.
In “To The Point,” Chris will guide you through:
- Thinking in Nodes: Explore how node structures underpin parametric design and simplify complex models.
- Creating Simple Objects: Learn to build intricate designs from basic elements.
- Manipulating Lists: Master the art of list management to streamline your design process.
- Complex Math Terms for Designers: Demystify and apply advanced math concepts in design contexts.
- Refining Graphs: Optimize your design graphs for enhanced performance.
- Cross-Application Outputs: Discover how to export and use designs across various platforms, from Revit to Blender.
With an interactive format featuring two segments and live Q&A, this workshop will not only deepen your understanding but also offer hands-on experience in real-time graph-building. Don’t miss the chance to learn from a pioneer in the field and redefine your approach to computational design.
